Marlite Extreme Teamwork Makes Project a Success

On November 29, an episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” aired. It was about the Marshall Family of New Hampshire. Their son, Cody, is a leukemia survivor. During his healing he started a foundation (B+) to give back to the hospital that had given him so much. This was a very inspiring story about him and his family and their struggles. Even though the episode focused on Cody and his B+ Foundation, a small group of individuals were sitting on the edges of their seats waiting and watching for the International Soccer Room Bedroom. For a small group of people something special was being installed in that room...

Flashback to before the airing of the show:

A call comes into Marlite about wanting some material for a TV show. We get calls all the time from people wanting us to donate our materials to various types of shows. But when the gentleman introduced himself as the Designer for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, he got our attention. He then proceeded to explain that he wanted to create an executive boardroom feel for the oldest son’s bedroom. It became apparent he didn’t want FRP! He inquired about our Myriad and Surface Systems, which had the look and feel they were trying to achieve.
Collectively TJ Rine, Vivian Mosley, Don Sweitzer, Kelly Bott, and Cindy Schwarm along with our internal teams and manufacturing teams worked together to execute the request. Marlite provided a Surface System 4 that covered two walls and the Myriad System that doubled as the headboard.

Now back to the show...

As that small group of people sat watching the show, there was a quick glimmer of Marlite surfaces when Eduardo used a picture of Myriad on his color board for the room. Their hearts began to beat a little faster in anticipation of what would come later. Another glimmer came when the furniture was being moved into the house with a shot of the room showing a quick glimpse of Myriad and Surface Systems. By now, that small group of people was perched on the edges of their seats desperate to see the family’s oldest son walk into his new room. When the door opened and the camera panned around the room, the television screen filled with the sights of Marlite Surface Systems 4 and Myriad. As the camera continued to pan around the room, a certain small group of people let out a single tear of joy! All the hard work and sleepless nights paid off as we sat watching our masterpiece being showcased on national television.
